10 Ways to Get Involved in the Dispute Resolution Section

Are you interested in expanding your ABA circle but not sure where to start? There are many ways to meet new people, develop knowledge and skills, and make your voice heard at the home of dispute resolution thought leadership.

Attend a Program or Event

Our conferences and webinars provide valuable continuing education, plus they offer a networking avenue to meet leaders and peers in the field. Our Membership Committee also periodically offers in-person and virtual social events.

Contribute to the Field

Short on time? Your financial gift to the ABA Section of Dispute Resolution will empower legal professionals with innovative resources, education, and collaboration on dispute resolution policy and best practices.

Find Like Minds and Join a Committee

Our 12 substantive committees are focused on different areas of dispute resolution. Committee members receive access to listservs and our internal members-only platform, ABA Communities, to network, exchange ideas, receive advice, and interact with fellow professionals who share similar areas of interest.

Present a Program

Every fall, the Section requests program proposals for our Spring Conference (keep an eye out on the home page for details). We also seek webinar program proposals on an ongoing basis – simply complete a proposal form and we’ll take the planning from there.

Record a Podcast Episode

Our podcast, Resolutions: A Podcast About Dispute Resolution and Prevention, averages nearly 20,000 listeners a year. We are always seeking new interviewees.

Become a Sponsor

Expose your product to top industry leaders and practitioners from around the country. Enhance your reputation by partnering with the Section to build relationships with our members. Our package levels are tailored to fit what you want to get out of sponsorship at price points for everyone.

Join a Competition as a Participant or Judge

We welcome law students to gain a greater understanding of the field by participating in our National Representation in Mediation Competition or our Boskey Essay Contest. We also welcome our more experienced members to act as judges in the competitions and provide valuable input to the next generation of DR professionals.

Apply for a Fellowship

Section Fellows advance their careers and grow their personal network while gaining experience and insight working with seasoned dispute resolution professionals. Being a Fellow is an in-road to becoming the next generation of leadership.

Become a Published Author

Published quarterly, Dispute Resolution Magazine is a timely resource of news and trends throughout the world in the field of dispute resolution. We are always seeking new content and authors.

Serve in Leadership

The Section is led by a strong community of nearly 100 members in leadership roles, including Officers, Executive Committee Members, Council Members and Committee Co-Chairs. Active Section members have the opportunity to be elected and appointed to leadership positions.
