Prosecutorial Independence Taskforce

Goal

The goal of the Task Force for Prosecutorial Independence is to preserve and strengthen prosecutorial independence and enhance the American public’s understanding of the prosecutor’s critical role in maintaining the integrity of the criminal justice system.

Resolution 501

Urges state, local, territorial, and tribal officials to adhere to the ABA Criminal Justice Standards for the Prosecution Function (4th ed. 2017), and to ensure that efforts to address alleged prosecutorial misconduct are governed by written standards that provide reasonable notice as to what conduct is proscribed or prohibited and afford due process before a fair and impartial tribunal.
